David Hockney was born in Bradford England on July 9th 1937. He was a significant contributor to the pop art movement during the 60's. He gained recognition for his abstract paintings about homosexual love. He also created collages with polaroids, this can be seen through the project we did. We used several photos to create one abstract collage.
While taking photos, I imagined a 4x3 grid. I took an overall photo and then zoomed in on sections, taking the photo from left to right. In photoshop, it started off being very difficult for me. My photography partner helped me, and then I was able to create two collages. After I understood it, it was pretty simple. While putting the photos together in photoshop, the goal was to make it abstract. I think I accomplished that.

I chose TIME because it is well-known and maintains a good reputation. I also like how they edit select covers to be black-and-white. I used TIME's trademark logo and border to emulate the magazine's style. As well as with the photo, making it B&W and a thoughtful pose.
I used several forms of one font, the font being Avenir Next Condensed Demi Italic. I only used white fonts. With the exception of TIME's logo. We had a grey backdrop with several lights. I used several photoshop tools: layer masks, select tool, eraser tool, and others. A strobe light is used to act as a flash for your camera. They are specifically placed and angled toward a subject. The purpose of a modeling light is to allow a photographer to get a sense of the lighting effect. Modeling lights help the photographer show where the light and shadow falls on the subject. A soft box is used with a strobe light, the soft box gives a softer source of lighting. Giving the model softer features. A reflector is a tool used to bounce and diffuse natural and artificial light. A gray card is used to confirm accurate color. It is a way to produce a consistent image exposure. A radio signal transmitter is connect to the camera instead of the flash that sends a signal to the strobe light. The title of my piece is #nofilter. I took this photo is Los Angeles, CA. Symmetry is the compositional rule of my photograph. I used a Nikon D5300 with a 18-140mm lens for this photo. My image is in the color division because of the striking colors the graffiti exhibits. The graffiti that’s pink is the first element the audience notices, thus placing the photo in the color category. My piece was printed on Epson Glossy Photo Paper on a Epson P800 digital printer.
